We are in for the night, currently in Rock Port, Missouri. Today’s driving time ended up being close to 4 hours, which is much longer than we would normally go in a day, but it made sense for today. We took a break for lunch, later needed a fuel stop and some DEF, then yet another quick rest break and finally – we are in for the night. Somehow our time on the road clocked in at close to six hours, not including departure/setup times. Travel days are long days no matter how you slice it!
Even after a long day, it was really nice to walk around and take photos once we got here.
And it’s always fun to watch Frodo explore a new area. This dog was meant to travel, he’s having the time of his life!
Tomorrow we plan to check out the area where we are and see if we can get a taste of life here. From the little I’ve seen, it looks like a neat place!
We’re in for a cold night, so send some warm thoughts our way!
Sometimes I can actually manage to grab my camera in time to capture moments like this…
Frodo loves his bedtime routine. Last night I was taking too long so he grabbed his bedtime toy and began to nudge me along. He made it clear, it was time for bed! He was okay with a few photos first though, he never minds the camera.
Before Dave and I can get ready for bed though, Frodo goes first!
When Frodo hears, “Time to brush your teeth!” – he jumps off the bed, runs into the bathroom, and sits in front of the drawers to wait for us.
Of course, he gets to lick the toothbrush as a reward, and probably doesn’t understand why the yummy toothpaste is applied to his teeth first instead of directly to his tongue. But he goes along with the strange ritual every night and really enjoys it. We enjoy his minty fresh breath afterward (who knew doggie toothpaste comes in vanilla mint?!) and hopefully his teeth will stay healthy for a long time to come.
Frodo’s beard always ends up with quite a bit of toothpaste on it so he appreciates the “Wipe your face!” step in the routine.
Before long it’s really time for bed so he waits happily for story time.
My powers of influence are strong, just look in my direction… look at me…. just a glance…
You are feeling generous with apples and carrots today. And some fetch, fetch would be nice. Give me a throw?
Lawn work always involves the dog…
In order for something to get clean (in this case, the yard), something else must get dirty. But a dirty dog, is a happy dog!
In fact, even being wiped down can’t shake this dog’s happiness…
See? Still happy! And now, ready for a bath!
