When you have two photography enthusiasts in one household, you end up with a lot of photos. 2014 is ending, leaving me with over 1000 photos in my Lightroom archives and that’s just the photos I kept. Most of what I take ends up in the trash bin. And of course, that’s just me – this doesn’t include the photos Dave takes as well! However Dave is more judicious with his shutter button, so he doesn’t have to hit ‘delete’ as often as I do.
With all these photos locked away in our computers, I thought it would be interesting to share some of our best photos from the year, but I wanted to keep the list to TEN. Do you have any idea how difficult that was? I see some interesting “Throwback Thursday” posts in my future where I intend to sneak some more in, but for the Top 10…. here they are:

And to sneak in just one more photo… do you see the photo at the very top of this blog as the header photo? That photo was taken by Dave on October 29, 2014, as we explored the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, North Carolina. Sorry, I couldn’t quite keep it to just ten photos!
A great top 10! I must admit, I laughed when you wrote 1,000 for the year. When I’m shooting an equestrian event, that’s my count for the day!
You guys do really beautiful work. 🙂

Thank you!
Yes, I can definitely understand hitting 1,000 at an event – especially equestrian. I’d love a chance to photograph horses someday, that’d be so much fun!

It occurred to me a friend of mine paid his vacation doing that. He lives in Florida and came here for the International in July. From the pictures he sold it paid for his whole trip. Plus he had time to shoot nature shots here in the Eastern Townships. Which is more his specialty.
I can show you how to shoot a horse in 5 minutes, then 2 or 3 horses to get your timing down and your making money. On my blog Back Home in Bromont you can see I’m not a great photographer, I just have really good timing with horses. 😀
P.S. I suck with dogs. They move to erratically for me.

Photographing anything that moves can be challenging. I work on my timing with photographing our dog all the time – but I still end up with quite a bit of missed shots.
Traveling is difficult for me, but I did check out your other blog and I love how you describe what you see in the photo. I’ll enjoy following along and learning from what you post. It’s nice we could ‘meet’ here like this! 🙂

Nice to meet you. 🙂 Again I find dogs hard to shoot, too much lateral movement. With horses, the trick is to watch the feet.
But it’s embarrassing when riders come up to me saying “did you get any good ones of me”? I have no idea who they are! “Ahh, can you show me your horse?”
